Reception hosted by Inner Temple on 20 October 2009, in support of the work of Opportunity International

As a professional advisory firm in the City of London, charitable giving and corporate social responsibility is at the heart of Saunderson House's philosophy and history. We were delighted to support an event on 20 October 2009, for Opportunity International (www.opportunity.org.uk). Opportunity International is a microfinance charity empowering people in developing countries with small loans, training, savings and insurance so that they can work their own way out of poverty.
HRH The Princess Royal, patron of Opportunity, met around 200 guests from London's legal community and spoke at the reception. The Princess Royal is also a Royal Bencher of Inner Temple and is to be the Inn's Royal Treasurer in 2011.
Lydia Opoku from Ghana, Head of Africa Programmes and former loan officer in Ghana shared her personal story which began when her family took out a microloan in Ghana.
Saunderson House's business is about helping people to create, maintain and increase their capital. It is particularly gratifying when some of that capital, in whatever form, is used for the relief of poverty in a business-like manner.
Nick Fletcher, CEO of Saunderson House, comments:
"Saunderson House wholeheartedly endorses the work of Opportunity International and its empowering approach of giving people a ‘hand up’ rather than a ‘hand out’. We were delighted to support this event and we have no hesitation in commending the work of this highly professional organisation to our clients."
